These vacation homes are less than 4 miles east of Monarch Mountain ski area, famous for its powder snow and Continental Divide skiing and snowboarding. See the map below for the precise location.

Amen Schoolhouse

The Schoolhouse can sleep up to 17 persons, with 5 bedrooms, a loft, 4 full baths, 2 dining areas, and a full kitchen—including a microwave, dishwasher, and two ovens.

There is also a living room with a cathedral ceiling, satellite TV, and an electric fireplace. The long dining table in the living area is a perfect place for family/group meals to re-live the day's fun on the ski slopes or the hiking trails.

The Schoolhouse has a ski equipment room, with racks for hanging up your skis and boards. There is also a washer and dryer.

And of particular interest to summer renters, there are two decks (one covered).

By the way, the home really was a schoolhouse—built as such in the 1880's and used for that purpose through the 1960's.

The Schoolhouse's close proximity to the Mt. Deck make the two properties perfect for larger groups, with plenty of sleeping space and amenities for all.

Mountain Deck Home

This inviting and spacious home, with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, sleeps 8 and features a large deck which overlooks the South Fork of the South Arkansas River.

Three sliding doors open onto the deck, which also offers incomparable views of the Monarch Ridge, an awesome sight in any season.

It's such a great feature we named the property for it!

The Mountain Deck Home includes a full kitchen, with a microwave and dishwasher. There's also a convenient bar for additional seating at mealtime.

The living area has a fireplace stove.

Other amenities include a washer and dryer, located in the attached two-car garage, and a large, convenient mudroom—great for keeping skis, hiking gear, etc., out of the way.

River House

This charming log cabin has 3 bedrooms:

• master on main floor (king)
• loft area (one queen; one double)
• an upstairs bedroom (one double; two singles on a bunk bed)

It has two baths and occupancy is limited to a maximum of seven.

There are also 2 dining areas, a full kitchen with a microwave, and a coin-operated washer and dryer.

The living room has an impressive cathedral ceiling looking up at the loft. There's also a ski equipment closet.

And the front porch that spans the width of the home features a comfy swing.

The back of the house looks down to the rushing mountain stream that is Monarch's fork of the South Arkansas River, and the split-level deck (with steps down to the creekside) makes it easy to enjoy the scene in comfort.

The top level of the deck runs adjacent to the side porch of the River House.
